Understanding life through death

Disclaimer: This is a superficial interpretation.

Life is inherently neither good, nor bad, it just is. Life is inevitably moving towards chaos. All things are. This is known as entropy. The natural order of things is to move towards destruction. In terms of life, it will be death. In terms of any inanimate object it is to become non-existent. Luckily, other forms of life aren’t aware of this. Hence, their existence and survival is just limited to biological sensations and nothing more. But, we humans have evolved over millions of years leading to have developed a brain that is self aware of life and death. There are 2 possibilities by being aware of death:

  1. Since we are aware of death, we give so much importance to life that living is not mere survival but a psychological drama playing infinite iterations in our minds that leads us to develop identity, ego, social status, jealousy, and everything that you can humanely experience in life. This drama takes so much effort to maintain that it doesn’t seem logical and loses its purpose after an age, but we still play it because it is a fine fabric of acceptable behaviors woven by society. One missing thread in this fabric (meaning if you try to reject the social norms) results in a second grade quality of cloth which the society doesn’t want. We are eager to want to know what people are thinking of us and continue to act in a way, leading to a perpetual trap that we lose the sight of what is important.
  2. The other interpretation of death is to understand that life is a momentary experience. What you call as you will wither away. No matter what you do, you will die. Accept it. Embrace it. This gives a sense of freedom and perspective on what is important to you. Now, since this is our own individual experience, we can make whatever we want out of it. You are the judge of your life, if you have a blast raising cattle and herding sheep while chilling under a tree, do it. The next day you might have a yearning to go to Europe, why not? plan, earn and go for it. The problem comes when you ask another human being what he thinks of your idea. The other person has no clue what it means to be in your shoes. No matter how close he is to you. You cannot explain yourself to others. You literally can’t. You will always feel short of words if you want to explain your life. So instead, live your life and anyway the world will attach a meaning to your life or judge you, that is, if the world gives a shit about what you do with your life.

The point to all this is, when you find yourself down/failed/disappointed/sad/angry/…..Tell yourself, “Dude, you are gonna die one day, none of this matters then, why should it matter today?”
